The Renewable Energy and Efficiency Week 2019 including an evening event will take place at the Scandic Hotel Berlin where participants will also have their accommodation.

This year, we will take care of the room reservations at the Scandic Hotel Berlin according to your arrival and departure details. The Scandic is one of the leading hotels when it comes to sustainability being part of the corporate philosophy. The venue is located in the city center of Berlin at the Potsdamer Platz, one of the city’s famous public squares.

Please note that any extras during your stay (e.g. phone calls, minibar) need to be covered at your own expense.
Breakfast will be served at the hotel. During the workshop, we will invite you to complimentary lunches.

Registration desk on Sunday in the hotel lobby
The registration desk at the lobby of the Scandic Hotel will be open from Sunday, 06 October 2019 from 12:00 until 8:00 p.m. If possible, please register on Sunday. Otherwise, the registration will also be open on Monday from 8:00-8.30 a.m. and in the afternoon at the conference secretariat of the Scandic Hotel.

Opening and Evening Event
On Monday, a representative from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) will open the conference. The focus of the day is "Energy Systems and Climate Change". On Tuesday evening, 08 October 2019, we invite participants and guests to join us for a joint evening reception.

Expert Workshops, 08 - 10 October 2019
During this year´s expert workshops, we will address current Energy Transition Trends (Policy and Regulations, Tuesday) and shed light on the Technology and Economics (Wednesday). On the last day of the conference, in cooperation with BMZ´s EZ-Scout Programme, we will provide input and discussions on business models and financing issues where you will also have an opportunity for an intensive exchange with private sector participants (Business Models, Financing and Private Sector, Thursday).

Field Trips, Friday, 11 October 2019
On Friday, we will offer field trips for all participants. We will depart approximately at 9:00 p.m. in front of the Scandic hotel and return to the hotel around 2:00 p.m. Further information about the field trip destinations will follow in the next weeks.



The event language is English. Simultaneous translations into Spanish, French and Russian will also be offered, except of the parallel workshop groups on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, as well as, during the field trips on Friday.



Berlin has two airports (Tegel TXL and Schönefeld SXF) and a central railway station (Hauptbahnhof) which can easily be reached by train from all over Europe. Detailed international train schedules are available at

Approaching from Airport Tegel TXL
By taxi: It takes about 25 minutes. The fare amount is approximately 35 €.
By public transportation: Take the Bus X9 from the airport to the stop „Ernst-Reuter-Platz".
Change to U2 and get off at “Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park, Berlin”. The hotel is in walking distance. You need one AB-Ticket for 2,80 €.

Approaching from Airport Schönefeld SXF
By taxi: It takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately 50 €.
By public transport: Take the Bus X7 direction “Rudow” and get off at the terminal stop “Rudow”. Change to U7 direction “Rathaus Spandau” and get off at the stop “Möckernbrücke”. The hotel is in walking distance. You need one ABC-Ticket for 3,40 €.

Approaching from the Central Railway Station “Berlin Hauptbahnhof”
By taxi: It takes about 10 minutes and costs approx. 15 €.
By public transport: From the main train station “Hauptbahnhof” take the Bus M41 direction
Sonnenalle/Baumschulenstraße. Get off at the stop “Potsdamer Platz, Berlin”. The hotel is in walking distance. You need one AB-Ticket for 1,70 €.

If you prefer to use public transportation, please note the following information: Watch out for a ticket machine before entering the vehicle. S-Bahn and U-Bahn (subway) tickets have to be stamped at the ticket validators before entering. You can buy bus tickets on the bus.
